REUNION50 Update #1

We just added the locations for both Friday night and Saturday night events that we are so excited about. It took a lot of work looking for the right places and the Reunion Team did an incredible job to make sure we secured the best deal. Once again our reunion time will be amazing!

We are now in the planning mode for Reunion50 and coming up with lots of great ideas and optional events to offer. We will be using an incredible reunion planning app starting this November that will give you a lot more details so be watching for that.

Check out the updated pages above and get the scoop on where to go on reunion weekend. We will be posting more details as we get them and pass them on to you.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?

First, mark your calendar and make plans to attend. Second, find alumni and get them to join our Facebook group Carroll Class of 73 so they get updated info on the reunion. If they are not on Facebook, tell them to email us at carrollreunion@yahoo.com. We can add people there also. Third, pray for great weather that weekend. See you there!

Reunion50: Save the Date

This just happened!

Reunion50 is booked and the dates are set. After months of searching for the perfect spot, visiting venues, making phone calls, getting quotes, emails and team meetings we found the perfect place to celebrate 50 years of friendships for the Class of 73. We looked high and low and even out of Corpus but ended up in our hometown Corpus Christi for a weekend of fun and re-connecting with alumni. Mark your calendar for these dates. More details coming so come back often.

50 Years of Memories: Friends for Life

It was 1973. As graduation closed in, both fear and excitement were on my mind thinking about what I would do next. The next minute I was walking across the stage in cap and gown being handed a piece of paper that proved I made it. I am now a Carroll High School Class of 1973 graduate along with 650+ others that became alumni that day. Here we are now, sliding into 50 years later.

Since the very first reunion in 1983, I have been on the planning team. Our first 10-year reunion was in Corpus Christi at the Holiday Inn Emerald Beach. The 20-year reunion was in Corpus at the Omni hotel downtown. The 30-year reunion was a big milestone for us again in Corpus at the Omni Hotel. Then the 40-year arrived and we celebrated in Port A at the Sandcastle Resort. That was one of the best for me! We figured out we were not getting younger so we planned a 5-year reunion that led us to Reunion45 in Port A at the Seashell Village Resort. It is hard to grasp but we are planning Reunion50 in 2023 now. Our goal for all reunions has been to get as many alumni together as possible. It takes a ton of work and a lot of hours but with the team we have, we have pulled off some amazing events.

Other goals include making it affordable for all, fun, with a time to rekindle those old friendships. The events in Corpus were great and the events in Port A were great. After the 45th reunion, the team all agreed that the 50th should be big, something new and different, like never before.

Would you agree that 50 years later, it is all about re-connecting, remembering high school days, catching up, making a vacation out of it, and having a good time together as a class? We can do all that at any location. We did the days of going back to the high school, driving by our old house, and seeing how Corpus has changed!

We are currently looking for reunion locations in CC, and Port A. Port A by far has the best venues and the most affordable but we are considering all options.

If you remember, for the 45th reunion, we had a difficult time getting alumni to register. We even threatened to cancel all our hard work preparing because not enough people had registered and we were not going to be able to cover the cost. We pleaded and at the last minute, we made it. Here we are 5 years later with 200+ on our Facebook group and in the planning process. We have lost some over the years and our group is not getting any younger. Knowing that with a possible location change we may lose some but will gain some too.We feel the best overall time of year is the fall; the weather is better, costs are lower, and the crowds are less.

TESTING 123: Are you still there!

TESTING 123! It has been 5 years since we posted here so this is only a test! I hope this finds you healthy and safe as we begin to create excitement once again for our reunion. Your reunion team is in the planning process of our next big event in the fall of 2023.

What can you do to help? Thanks for asking. Our biggest need at this point is to locate as many alumni as possible and ask them to join our Facebook group. Look through your friends for Class of 73 alumni and make sure they are connected. Right now we only have 204 out of over 650 in our class.

Lets make the 50th a big event and get as many there as we can!

Thanks

REUNION 45 a Huge Success

It is post -reunion 45 now and after getting some rest, I want to share some about the weekend. First of all, thank you to the Reunion Committee Team for incredible hard work and long hours to pull off a two night major event like this. I know we would all agree it was worth every effort. Our class doesn't just show up and eat dinner somewhere and visit, we have weekend events with all the bells and whistles. When the committee first met about a 45th reunion, we said lets do it but on a smaller scale of the last reunion since it was a mid term event. Well, that didn't happen! As we talked and planned, we got so excited that we went all out again. Now, the 45th is going to be hard to beat.

I am always amazed at how our class doesn't see each other for 5 or 10 years and when we get back together we just pick up right where we left off. That comes from our theme "Friends for Life". Our class is so special and unique in that we are all close and have nothing less than great memories of high school days. We had 623 people graduate in 1973 and ever since that day, we just get closer and closer together. What am amazing class we are.

The venue was awesome and embraced us perfectly. I loved the the outdoor setting and buffet and bar and the grass area under the lights. We also had AC indoors but really not many even took advantage of that area. The outdoor setting proved to me fun and exciting. Add in all the decorations and the themed look, it was amazing! When Jeff and Bob and I looked at the venue, we immediately started envisioning a fun event and the ideas were flowing. We left that day pumped at the thought of having our reunion there.

It all came out great and was so much fun. Thank God for the perfect weather and ocean breeze to keep the bugs away and keep us cool. The beach was clean and the waves were a refreshing sound all night at the beach party.

THANK YOU to those that were able to attend and those that could not make it, please plan for the 50th reunion in the year 2023. God willing we are all still around for it.

Reunion 45 Friends for Life is Happening

We hope you registered for Reunion 45 "Friends for Life", because WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN.

You did it Tigers. In just two weeks we went from 19 tickets sold to 68. Even though our goal is 75 tickets sold by Sept 1, we are going to make this happen anyway. How could we NOT after so much energy, fun, and excitement the past two weeks. The Reunion Team is blown away at how you responded and helped make this happen. THANKS SO MUCH Class of 73 Alumni!

CARROLL CLASS OF 73 ROCKS

Yes, we still need more tickets sold but more importantly, we want to see you there. It takes a lot of work and planning and funds to host reunions, but we can make it. We hope to have over 100 tickets sold by the start of the event knowing some will even pay at the door.

GOOD NEWS
Seashell Village Resort still has 25 rooms left that are blocked out for our reunion. They will hold our block closed to the public until Sept 12. After that we lose our block and anyone can book them so dont wait too long to make your reservation. That way you can stay at the event site and make a weekend out of it.

Let's go Tigers, Lets Go!
